Cinetic Landis Opens New Facility
Employees, company executives and guests from local academia and government recently convened in Hagerstown, Maryland to officially dedicate the new home of Cinetic Landis Corp. Speaking to an audience of more than 250, President and CEO Daniel Pheil presented the 108,700-square-foot facility as a sustainable, green foundation for the company’s future progress in the design and manufacture of precision grinding equipment. The facility combines 84,700 square feet of manufacturing space and 24,000 square feet of office space.

The Shop Rat Foundation, an organization in Pleasant Lake, Michigan dedicated to the advancing the skilled trade industries by offering hands-on education programs for young people, has endorsed successful national youth programs offered by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Education Foundation. The broader educational goal of these industry collaborations is to address the need for a skilled workforce by offering a full range of technology-based curriculum designed to appeal to young people. Initial plans are to introduce new curriculum at youth-based engineering programs offered by the SME Education Foundation.

With a record number of exhibitors, a significant increase in attendance and more floor space than ever before, AMB 2008 was larger than any previous iteration of the German metalworking trade show. The biennial event was hosted for the first time in Stuttgart, Germany at the new Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from September 9 to 13. More than 85,000 visitors—a 70-percent increase over the 2006 show—viewed innovations and developments from 1,306 exhibitors occupying 105,200 square meters of floor space, an area twice as large as the show’s previous location.
