The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) has released a 58-page report detailing the results of a large-scale, interactive measurement study of the measurement strategies and behaviors of corporate metrologists. Titled “How Behavior Impacts Your Measurement,” the report drives home the importance of defining best practices and understanding measurement fundamentals that enable informed judgments regardless of the measurement technologies used, says study co-author Keith Bevan of the National Physics Laboratory. Conducted at the 27th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), the two-day study asked more than 100 conference attendees to perform three tasks using portable 3D coordinate metrology equipment: measure a door with a laser tracker, retro reflectors and software; measure an engine compartment with an articulating arm, probe and software; and measure a vehicle with a laser tracker, probing and a laser scanning system.
