CECIMO, the European machine tool association, elected Martin Kapp as its new president at its recent Fall General Assembly, which met in Zurich, Switzerland in November.
Mr. Kapp, who will serve a two-year term, says his most important goal will demonstrating to European stakeholders the importance of the machine tool industry for industrial production and manufacturing’s potential to boost the economy. “We need to focus on how to boost the competitiveness of the European machine tool industry in facing the challenges of globalization, the fight against climate change, environmental protection, the importance of market surveillance and enforcement, the specific needs of SMEs and the lack of skilled technical labor force,” he says.
Mr. Kapp is managing partner of the Kapp Group, which provides gear and profile machining technologies. Since 2010, he has been chairman of the VDW, the German Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association, and he is active in the Executive Board of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). He served as a member of CECIMO’s board prior to his appointment as president.
