Marposs will highlight its Artis VM-03 vibration monitoring module with temperature and gravity sensing capability. From its location on the spindle, the module determines the spindle’s position in space while monitoring tool temperature, vibration velocity and acceleration, helping to minimize machine and tool damage. The VM-03 detects overload and potential crashes, protecting the machine from bearing and spindle damage caused by collisions. Process monitoring helps to optimize process cutting parameters, and machine condition monitoring enables predictive maintenance. Acceleration alarms, including warning, soft stop and hard stop, and temperature and gravity value warning alarms, are said to occur within 5 sec. of an event. Event data is recorded to illustrate operational processes and reveal anomalies, which can help protect OEMs from potential warranty claims.

The Genior modular tool and process monitoring system’s GEM Visu plug-in can visualize the data collected, which provides 1-ms resolution and a data log file through a PC hookup. Recording of the spindle working hours is divided into velocity of vibration classes and black box capability for the last 1,000 recorded events.

For machine condition monitoring, the VM-03 Visuscope software needs to be installed on an external Windows x86 PC with selectable resolution from 0.05 to 1 ms.
