Bluco Corp., designer and manufacturer of modular fixturing solutions for welding, machining, robotics and positioning, showcases its modular fixturing solution for machining extra-large parts. The solution, dubbed the 8024 Series, was released last year and has drawn increasing interest.

Previously, Bluco says, manufacturers could only take advantage of modular fixturing’s versatility by combining many smaller components. Using a right-size system reduces the number of parts needed to build a fixture, so setup and changeover times are reduced. Using fewer parts increases rigidity as well, which promotes consistent machining accuracy.

The precision of Bluco’s modular system also means after its installation there’s no need to tram and locate repeatedly, according to the company. With the first part prepared, every other part is virtually ready to go from that point on.

Bluco’s machining solutions will be on display in the North Building (booth #236557). The company is also showcasing its modular fixturing solutions for welding in the West Building (booth #432187). IMTS marks the first time that Bluco will bring the new system to a trade show. On display will be a 2,000-lb. valve fixtured for horizontal machining against two 6' modular angles on a custom baseplate.
