Wide Range of Applications for Horizontal Machining Center
The MA-8000H joins Okuma America Corp.'s lineup of horizontal machining centers with applications from heavy-duty to high-feed machining.
The team at Okuma America Corp. introduces the MA-8000H, the latest machine to join the company’s horizontal machining center lineup. This new CNC machine was designed for greater productivity when manufacturing large parts without compromising machining capacity, reliability or accuracy. Equipped with an extensive list of standard features, Okuma says its MA-8000H horizontal machining center is a great addition to shops that produce medium to large parts.
The machining center is designed to be able to handle a range of machining applications from heavy-duty to high-feed machining. Okuma says the machine’s work envelope and expansive travel ranges, coupled with a highly rigid bed and cast-in ball screw mounts, make the MA-8000H well-suited to cut medium to large workpieces. Additionally, powerful spindle options handle materials across the metal spectrum.
The MA-8000H is engineered with Okuma’s proprietary Thermo-Friendly Concept, a feature designed to minimize or eliminate thermal deformation during the machining process. The machine also includes an integrated thru-spindle coolant suction feature for mitigating excess coolant usage when machining functions subside. Additionally, the machine is equipped with an improved chip evacuation system with in-machine washing and a new sludgeless coolant tank design. The intention behind these features is to shorten coolant replacement cycles and tank maintenance needs.
MA-8000H can be equipped with Okuma’s next-generation energy management technology — ECO Suite Plus. This new technology aims to manage energy usage of the machine and peripheral devices with the goal of ultimately reducing CO2 emissions. Okuma plans to make ECO Suite Plus available on all Okuma machines.
Okuma says the design of the MA-8000H makes it well-suited to adopt automation systems such as Automatic Pallet Changers (APCs), Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) and a variety of robotics to improve productivity even further.
