L.S. Starrett Inspection Technology Optimizes Data Collection, Measurement
IMTS 2024: The L.S. Starrett Co. is demonstrating a range of quality control inspection technology, specifically for data collection, vision systems, measurement systems and more.
The L.S. Starrett Co. is demonstrating its quality control inspection technology. Supporting Industry 4.0, IoT and the Digital Factory, attendees can see a custom touchscreen wireless digital indicator that is designed to be accurate, fast and intuitive, as well as demonstrations of automated wireless measurement data capture and transmission from other handheld wireless and electronic gages via DataSure 4.0 wireless data collection system, or from vision systems and optical comparators via integrated software.
Among the range of Starrett solutions highlighted at the show are the latest multi-sensor vision systems; video-based inspection; measurement systems and optical comparators; DataSure 4.0, which can increase the accuracy and speed of data collection; and the No. W4900 wireless digital indicator, a precision digital measurement gage featuring touchscreen technology. Custom gage solutions and force testing systems, as well as precision granite solutions, gage blocks and more, are also being showcased.
Metrology Systems Solutions
The custom AVR400 multi-sensor vision system features a choice of optics as well as touch probe options. The system is made for repetitive measurements and automatic comparison to CAD files. A horizontal digital video comparator combining vision and optical comparator technology is also being demonstrated, featuring a patented interchangeable lens mounting system coupled to a high-resolution, five mega-pixel digital video camera. In addition, digital overlays in the system are developed directly from DXF CAD files. Starrett is also showcasing its HD400 benchtop comparator with a MetLogix Mx200 digital readout (DRO).
Additionally, Starrett’s force testing systems, highlighting a flexible, customizable architecture, aim to make the company’s range of force and material testing software programs compatible with its different test frames.
Precision Tool Gaging Solutions
Starrett is debuting its W4900 wireless digital indicator, utilizing touchscreen technology, which can redefine comparative indicating measurement. Starrett W4900 Indicators are rugged and sealed, with IP67 protection for harsh manufacturing environments in shops, OEM applications, on custom build and design tools and machinery and for in-process applications. The indicators are tailored to quality lab applications and other inspection areas.
The W4900 has an auto-on feature that is enacted via touch of the screen or the indicator stem, an auto-off after the desired pre-set time, in addition to a rechargeable, long-life battery. The indicator has a 1″ (25 mm) range and an accuracy of ±0.00012″ (0.003 mm), with resolutions of 0.001″, 0.0005″, 0.0001″ or 0.00005″ in imperial; 0.01 mm, 0.005 mm, 0.002 mm or 0.001 mm in metric. The company says it is a fast, simple-to-use gage. The latest electronic and wireless micrometers, bore gages, calipers and height gages are being demonstrated as well, supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives via DataSure wireless data acquisition.
Measurement Standards, Custom Gaging and More
Additionally, Starrett is exhibiting its Tru-Stone engineered granite metrology bases featuring the Superior Red air bearing/solid machine foundation base, gage blocks, surface roughness testers and gaging capabilities. Attendees are invited to bring their gaging and metrology challenges to the booth where Starrett engineers can provide technical support and guidance on pursuing customized solutions.
