Vertical CNC Lathes Can Combine to Single Control for Mass Production
Hwacheon Machinery offers its VT-450/VT-650 single-spindle and VT-450/-650-2SP twin-spindle vertical CNC lathes designed for mass production with reduced cutting times for automotive parts such as brake discs, brake drums, hubs and valves.
Hwacheon Machinery offers its VT-450/VT-650 single-spindle and VT-450/-650-2SP twin-spindle vertical CNC lathes designed for mass production with reduced cutting times for automotive parts such as brake discs, brake drums, hubs and valves. The rigid tool turret offers high-speed indexing with consistent and stable machining performance for high-volume cutting of automotive castings and forgings. These turning centers are available with the spindle on the left or the right side or as a double machine, which enables the operator to work on two machines with one control. A turn-mill option with 3,000-rpm spindle provides machining flexibility for more complex, large complete parts.
Respectively, the single- and twin-spindle machines provide 24" and 35.3" swing over the bed and accommodate cutting diameters ranging to 18" and 31.4" with 12" and 18" chuck sizes. The maximum turning diameter zone is intended to promote interference-free operations. Rapid XZ feeds of 787 and 630 ipm, respectively, speed tool positioning. The single-spindle lathe carries an 8-, 10- or 12-station, servo-type tool turret providing an indexing time as fast as 0.2 second or less, reducing overall cycle time.
The geared drive system enables high-torque turning at low speed as well as high-speed turning. For the VT-450, maximum spindle speed is 2,500 rpm generated by an 18.5-hp, oil-cooled motor; the VT-650 spindle speed is 1,500 rpm. The company’s Lathe Tool Load Detection System software constantly detects and diagnoses the tool load during machining to reduce tool wear and prevent damage to optimize tool life.
The one-piece machine bed design limits thermal distortion and absorbs vibration to promote surface quality and precision. For production efficiency, the machines deliver fast chip disposal and environmentally friendly oil/water separation.
