Three-Step Creation Process For Inspection Program
SolidCAM describes its SolidCMM application as a complete inspection process that improves quality and reduces programming time. According to the company, an inspection program can be created in minutes. The part data (model and drawing) then can be simulated and verified in a virtual machine environment before it is transferred to the inspection machine in a standard CMM format.

The three-step process includes automatic feature extraction, automatic inspection and quick annotations. Automatic feature extraction allows users to edit and add inspection directions, edit features or move features from one set to another. Automatic inspection creates measurement locations for each feature according to its geometric type, the specified inspection mode and the general properties set for the process, such as accuracy and geometric tolerances. Quick annotations allow the user to specify the inspection requirements and the type of report.
The application imports 3D models in standard data interface formats including IGES, STEP, VDA, Parasolid and SAT. Programs are created in standard CMM formats such as DMIS, PCDMIS and Cosmos and are said to fit into existing environments.
