Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. is showcasing its 90-degree inserts for the company’s proprietary GND grooving toolholders in booth 5570 at Eastec 2023.
These 90-degree inserts are said to be ideal for grooving narrow parts and facing in outer-diameter (OD) and inner-diameter (ID) applications that require unique approaches due to interference. Examples of applications for the 90-degree GND insert are engine discs for aerospace, turbine housings and combustion cases. The design of the inserts prevent pullout for specific applications. The end shape of the insert is offered in different forms based on application needs: square, full radius with a chamfer or others based on need. The blade width of the 90-degree GND inserts is available in 0.197" (5 mm) or less sizes. Serrated sides (anti-pull out texture) are also available to improve rigidity and suppress insert slipping under tough conditions.
Available grades offered for these inserts are AC5015 and AC5025S for exotic materials, EH510 and EH520 for titanium alloy and H10 for non-ferrous materials.
