Tungaloy offers the GTGN series of shallow grooving inserts with three cutting edges. The inserts feature the company’s SH730 (Ti,Al) N PVD-coated, micro-grain grade for chipping and welding resistance. Available groove widths measure 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.7, 1.95 and 2.25 mm with depths ranging from 1.25 to 1.8 mm.
The GTGN series is designed to be compatible with a variety of existing toolholders to reduce inventory and toolholder costs. According to Tungaloy, the simple change-over of the insert shim enables the use of the TungThread threading tool series to be used in the same toolholder. Available in left- or right-hand format, the GTGN inserts are suitable for both external and internal toolholders.
The CE toolholder that is compatible with both the GTGN and TungThread series is available with an overall length of 5" or 6" and shank sizes measuring 0.750", 1" and 1.250". The CE steel shank toolholders feature a dual-clamp system. The insert can be screwed down or top clamped based on operator preference. They are available in a right-hand configuration.
