SMW Autoblok says its sealed chucks allow for six-month lubrication intervals, eliminating lost production time and cost associated with daily lubrication. The sealed chucks automatically distribute lubrication to all internal components, providing longer workholding life compared to traditional sliding jaw chucks, the company says. Additionally, the sliding jaw chucks are able to maintain constant gripping force throughout the lubrication interval because no lubrication is lost.

Specially designed master jaws, internal parts and Teflon seals create an airtight seal keeping chips, dirt and fluids out of the chuck body. This prevents contamination of the chuck’s internal components, even in aggressive applications such as cast iron machining, dry machining and machining with high-pressure coolant.

The sealed sliding jaw chucks are available in a variety of sizes and styles, including open-center standard chucks and closed-center chucks in standard, long-stroke, high speed and quick-jaw-change configurations.
