According to manufacturer Apriso, the FlexNet Quality program merges quality management with production execution. Available as an upgrade to the company’s operations execution platform, the application is designed to provide greater visibility and control over the entire manufacturing process.
The module is said to support the prerequisites for effective implementation of Six Sigma, including implementation of the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) process as well as Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques. To support lean manufacturing programs, the module focuses on waste and variability minimization. In addition to providing automated quality validation and reporting, the module can decrease cycle times, improve work flows and effectively manage materials, the company says.
Quality metrics are contained in one master data set, so product specifications with versioning and reasoning codes for defects can be synchronized with an ERP solution. In addition, quality inspection is integrated with receiving, warehouse, production and shipping business-process management. The module is equipped with forward and reverse product traceability and genealogy to track each raw material and supplier component. Also, quality key performance indicators (KPIs) can be integrated with other manufacturing KPIs in the FlexNet global performance manager.
