Available from Royal Products, the Roto-Shield live center features an oversized steel coolant slinger machined into the rotating point and a spring-loaded neoprene seal. The seal is resistant to abrasion, high temperatures and virtually all metalworking fluids, the company says. The live centers are designed to increase bearing life by deflecting coolant; protecting against ships, fines and dust; reducing seal wear; and maintaining grease consistency. They are rated for coolant applications with pressures as high as 2,000 psi and provide ±0.00005" runout accuracy.
