Height Gage Designed For Accuracy, Repeatability

Leaders-In background

Mahr Federal's Digimar 817 CLM height-measuring instrument has three distinct ways to initiate measurement. In addition to normal keypad initiation, a quick-mode feature allows the user to start the measurement cycle by pushing the carriage in the direction of the object to be measured. Also, two speed keys on the base allow the operator to move the measuring carriage to the desired position. Combined with a teach-in mode, these features can reduce inspection time for a series consisting of only a few test pieces, the company says.

The unit's air-bearing system facilitates smooth movement for positioning, while its optical incremental measuring system with a double reader head is insensitive to dirt. This improves accuracy and reliability, the company says. In addition, the dynamic probing system is said to provide high repeatability, while the stainless steel guide column with precision ball bearings tracks the measuring head.

The standard unit is equipped for 1D measurement, and 2D measurement is optional. It offers dynamic measurement functions with analog display such as max, min and max/min. Users can perform automatic perpendicularity and straightness measurements with the appropriate accessories.
