Concepts NREC Updates Five-Axis CAM Software Efficiencies
IMTS 2024: Concepts NREC showcases updates to its Max-PAC five-axis CAM software, which aims to simplify and accelerate geometry setup, the editing of blade points and the rate of collision avoidance options.
Concepts NREC highlights the Max-PAC, tailored for turbomachinery job shops and five-axis machine tool manufacturers. Its latest features are said to enable faster, simpler setup of geometry configurations.
According to the company, these features include:
Faster and flexible geometry setup: Simplified dialogs for collecting blade, edge and fillet surfaces speed up the selection process while maintaining the flexibility to collect surface ISO curves. Users can increase or decrease the number of curves for each surface within the blade definition, which enables smoother tool motion downstream. Use of “define by surface” and “collect surface” eliminates the selection of surface edges and repeated extraction of curves.
Direct editing of blade points: Points can be added or removed directly within the blade definition dialog. It is said to automatically add or remove points to every section in the blade side definition.
Collision avoidance options: Selection of “surfaces of revolution” collects curves for defining boundary surfaces to be used in addition to the shroud and hub for collision avoidance. “Tool clearance” can be defined to set a distance to keep the tool away from adjacent surfaces.
