FANUC America Corp.’s Series 3xi-Model B CNC features a new CNC platform and updates to its high-speed five-axis capabilities and software algorithms to reduce cycle times and improve part accuracy and quality. The new platform combines CNC functionality with computer technology, including built-in Bluetooth to enable the use of wireless technology for data transfer between a tablet and the CNC. CAD/CAM and other PC-based machine peripherals can be shown directly on the CNC, improving productivity. Additional new features include enhanced 3D graphics with Manual Guide i, more data storage, and support for peripheral devices such as a keyboard and mouse. The CNC’s high-speed smooth tool center point control with tolerance control enables smooth, accurate simultaneous five-axis high-speed machining. A hand-held iPendant improves operability. The CNC can support as many as 32 servo axes, 24 simultaneous interpolated axes, eight spindles and five independent PMC machine ladders.
