Cutting Dream Contest 2010 Award Winners
The prize-winning entries for the Cutting Dream Contest 2010, which was hosted by Mori Seiki Co., Ltd., have been chosen.
This joint coupling from Iizuka Factory won the top prize in the production parts machining category.
Taiyogomu Co., Ltd. created these 3D wire components to take the prototype and test cutting category.
Called “Beloved Dog/Pal,” these pieces from Ogata Carving Corporation won the die/mold free-form category.
Takao Tech created this titanium “glass in a glass” to win the micromachining category.
Industrial Research Institute of Niigata Prefecture won the academic research category with this composite blade made of ultra-heat-resistant alloy and wild cedar.
The prize-winning entries for the Cutting Dream Contest 2010, which was hosted by Mori Seiki Co., Ltd., have been chosen. The Cutting Dream Contest is open to companies, schools and research institutions engaged in machining in Japan. It is intended to promote the exchange of information on machining technologies and techniques. For the 2010 edition, which marks the seventh contest, the company received 105 entries. Judging was performed from a five-member panel from outside the company. The awards ceremony was held at JIMTOF 2010 (25th Japan International Machine Tool Fair), and entries were on display at the Mori Seiki booth during the show.
