Jet Edge offers a series of intensifier pumps designed for use with robotic waterjet trimming cells from Alliance Automation. The cells feature dual, wall-mounted Motoman HP20D robots with ±0.06 mm repeatability and Jet Edge’s 60 ksi (4,100 bar) iP60-50 waterjet intensifier pumps using the company’s tie-rod intensifier design. The cell’s compact frame design offers stability for both the cutting head and robots to ensure consistent tight part tolerances.
Its wall-mounted robots enable the first two axes to be mounted forward and over the part, which is said to result in a larger work envelope and motion to work easier around larger parts. The robots also are able to quickly retract to an out-of-the-way home position during part loading/unloading. This reduces cycle times and helps ensure operator safety.
Commonly used in the automotive industry, this type of robotic waterjet trimming cell precisely cuts shaped parts with many angles from a variety of materials, including carpeting, fiberglass, foam and plastic. The system can be used for automotive interior applications, including trimming headliners, dashboards, dash liners, bed liners, wheel liners, door panels, trunk trim, car carpet and acoustic dampening components.
