Waterjet System Cuts Complex 3D, Beveled Parts
Jet Edge will demonstrate its latest Edge X-5 five-axis waterjet cutting system, which cuts precise taper-free parts from a variety of materials.
Jet Edge will demonstrate its latest Edge X-5 five-axis waterjet cutting system, which cuts precise taper-free parts from a variety of materials. The system can cut complex 3D parts such as impellers and bevels ranging to 50 degrees. Its sturdy design separates the motion system from the catcher tank, eliminating vibration and ensuring maximum part quality. The ballscrew-driven system features direct-couple, AC brushless digital servomotors, providing repeatability of ±0.001". Critical bearing components are protected with heavy metal covers with brush seals and positive air pressure. The machine is available in sizes ranging from 5 × 5 ft. (1,500 × 1,500 mm) to 24 × 13 ft. (7,300 × 3,900 mm). In addition, the Edge X-5 features the company’s Aquavision Di industrial PC, which enables users to fine-tune programs from any CAD/CAM or nesting software using advanced HMI features and/or standard G and M code.
Productivity-enhancing options include a second cutting head with mirror cutting capabilities, a pneumatic drill for pre-piercing materials that are prone to delamination, automatic submerged or above-water cutting capabilities, and a laser plate mapping feature that promotes precise nozzle-to-plate standoff.
The company will also display its Boss-Cutter waterjet system as well as the X-Stream intensifier pump.
