Flow International’s WMC2 waterjet machining center is available with 87,000-psi waterjet cutting. The water stream’s power and density are increased as a result of the high pressure, which moves each particle of abrasive faster and with more energy. With the company’s HyperJet pumps, users can cut faster and more efficiently than waterjet systems operating at lower pressures, the company says. The waterjet has the ability to cut parts as thick as 8" out of virtually any material, including metal, stone, plastics, composites, glass, ceramics and rubber, with no heat-affected zone. The company says the waterjet provides accurate, taper-free parts; high productivity with fast cutting speeds; and a modular design that can adapt as users’ needs change.
