View MoreDMG MORI’s NVX 5100 vertical machining center is designed to promote machining efficiency with high spindle speeds, and increased stability and vibration damping through the use of slideways. The VMC accommodates larger workpieces weighing as much as 1,200 kg (2,645.5 lbs) and is suitable for a range of applications, including heavy-duty machining. The X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 1,050 × 530 × 510 mm (41.3" × 20.9" × 20.1"). Rapid traverses range to 30 m/min. (1,181 ipm).
The VMC is equipped with a 13,000-rpm spindle and is also available with a 15,000-rpm option. The inner diameter of the SK50 spindle bearing measures 120 mm (4.7"). The spindle features a labyrinth structure to prevent coolant from penetrating the spindle, improving durability. According to DMG MORI, the design enables efficient and reliable machining of difficult materials using short tools and high-pressure coolant. The oil and cooling lines and mounting bolts are arranged symmetrically to the spindle center, reducing thermal displacement and increasing machine stability in combination with the use of flat guides. The VMC offers the choice of MAPPS IV and 21.5" Ergoline with MAPPS on Mitsubishi and with CELOS.
The machining center can be equipped with direct-drive attachment tables from the company’s DDRT series for more versatile applications ranging to five-axis simultaneous machining. The direct drive transmits power directly to the rotational axes without the use of gears, minimizing backlash and ensuring precision. An optional chip conveyor equipped with a drum and cyclone filter ensures safe chip transport and keeps the tank clean for reliability and productivity.
