PRAB’s vertical-axis crusher quickly reduces turnings and bulky wads of material into shovel-grade chips, reconditioning the metal for further processing and recycling. According to the company, the unit produces material at rates ranging to 4,000 lbs/hr. (1,814 kg/hr.). It is well-suited for dealing with clumps of bushy metal shavings, such as those produced during Swiss machining.

The solids ejector automatically discharges bar ends, maximizing uptime and protecting equipment from damage, the company says. According to PRAB, the crusher also reduces material as much as six times, decreasing required storage space, lowering transportation costs and reducing housekeeping maintenance. It is also said to increase efficiency in reclaiming cutting fluids and coolants.
