The updated Multimar 844 T universal measurement gage from Mahr Federal is designed for gaging IDs and ODs ranging to 2,500 mm with high sensitivity and accuracy. Improvements include a precision guideway with ball bearings on the moveable arm to improve reliability and repeatability. Measuring applications include IDs and ODs; external and internal thread measurements; centering shoulders, narrow collars, recesses and grooves; external and internal tapers; external and internal gear-tooth profiles; and more.

New stop elements include three-point support for tilt measuring motion on the workpiece. Heat-isolating handles reduce thermal influences, and a set of mounting stands hold the gage when not in use, which helps to prevent damage. The gage can be fitted with any measuring indicator that has an 8-mm mounting shank, including wireless indicators. The stationary measuring arm can be moved along the column for coarse adjustment, and constant measuring force is applied due to a built-in measuring force spring. Both the direction of the measuring force and the measuring arms can be changed for either external or internal dimensions. Gage sizes larger than 1,000 mm (39.75") incorporate a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic tube to lighten the gage without losing stability; the 844 T is available in seven models of different ID/OD size ranges.

According to the company, what makes the Multimar 844 T versatile is the range of measuring arms, anvils, mounting attachments and depth stops available. Anvils and tips are offered in a variety of shapes and configurations, including threads, flat and spherical shoulders, blades, and round faces. Depth stops can be set to the exact measuring depth in the horizontal measurement position to provide precise support on the reference plane surface. This feature improves repetitive accuracy when conducting comparison measurements in the second axis and, when used with a rectangular gage block, can provide accurate depth measurement on cones.
