Vero Software’s VISI 17 features enhancements to the company’s CAD, CAM and CAE solutions. CAD enhancements include model thickness analysis, which allows the user to identify the thickest and thinnest areas of the model and validate its integrity. This helps highlight any potential areas that may cause internal voids, surface sink marks, unpredictable shrink rates and longer cycle times. Further developments include intelligent body/face mating, improved annotation, updated printing and improvements to the management of drawing files. The software can also import pages from other work files and re-build the link between the solid geometry.

CAM developments include enhancements to geometry feature recognition, including the ability to recognize complex and simple holes on both solid and surface models. The software can also recognize features from a predefined direction and find features within a localized user-defined region. The separation of passes and linking increases productivity and reduces calculation time, the company says. This allows the user to inspect the toolpath quality before building the HSM linking movements.

VISI Flow emphasizes the continued integration of plastic flow technology into a real CAD environment. This program uses custom hexahedral hybrid mesh technology to provide accurate results, the company says, with analyses run directly from the CAD model.

VISI Mold also benefits from the VISI Flow integration with the inclusion of a combined material database containing more than 7,000 materials. Model shrinkage, based on material and other flow properties are automatically attached to the model ready for filling simulation. A new tool for designing runners and gates provides the user with an interactive method to construct the injection circuit.
