View MoreRepublic Lagun’s 30-degree automatic head can work in five-axis machining, both positioning and continuous. The CNC head’s two axes are arranged to enable machining in negative angles as large as 30 degrees to the ram. According to the company, the head is capable of machining with simultaneous movements for complex surfaces as well as positioning with rapid movements with the head unclamped. This capability is said to improve machining times when drilling in different angles, for example.
The CNC head is an evolution of the Zayer 45-degree automatic head. According to Republic Lagun, the axis has been moved backward so that when the head turns, the tool remains at the same point. This feature improves accuracy and prevents sudden movements of the machine axis when the angles of the tool are changed. The head also does not require sudden movements of the machine axis to adjust to the geometry of the surface, further improving accuracy. The angle of the front head and elbow distribute cutting forces to avoid direct forces over the clamping system or the axis mechanisms and promote rigidity. The milling head’s small size enables it to access limited areas, and the arrangement of the axis makes it possible to machine internal corners without the head colliding with the sidewall, the company says.
