View MoreDoosan has expanded its range of Puma GT turning centers with four new models: the GT2600, GT2600M, GT2600L and GT2600LM. The chuck size is 10" (optionally 12") with a maximum swing over bed of 24.8" and swing over saddle of 18.1". Maximum turning length is 25.9" on the GT2600 and 24" on the GT2600M, while the long-bed GT2600L and GT2600LM versions offer maximum lengths of 42.4" and 40.6", respectively. To ease loading, the Puma GT2600’s distance from front cover to spindle center has been reduced from 17.2" to 15.3". The maximum bar working diameter is 3.2" on all four models.
Box guideways are applied to all axes to increase damping and rigidity for making deep cuts. The Puma GT’s 30-degree, single-piece slant bed design reduces the center of gravity of both the spindle and cross-slide, minimizing thermal growth. Rapid travel rates are 945 ipm on the X axis and 1,181 ipm on the Z axis.
The Puma GT2600’s 0.15-sec. turret indexing times come from a servo-driven non-lifting design and high-torque motor. This design is said to be faster and also more reliable, with fewer moving parts. The turret offers 12 tool stations.
The Puma GT2600M and GT2600LM feature a BMT55P top plate that secures each tool with four bolts and keys for efficient machining performance and uses a high-precision internal drive system. Rotary tool speed is 5,000 rpm with a 7.5-hp rotary tool motor.
Doosan’s EZ Guide i conversational programming system is included in the control, providing menu-driven functions for roughing, finishing, grooving, threading, peck drilling and more.
