Mazak’s Hyper Quadrex200MSY features two high-performance spindles and upper and lower turrets to target balanced cutting for medium- to high-volume unattended applications. The turning center’s RL100 gantry loader is designed to improve productivity for a range of applications within a compact footprint. The five-axis loader features a three-jaw, double-robot hand with sensors and can accommodate two 22-lb workpieces that range in length from 0.78" to 3.93".
The main and secondary spindles can operate together or separately. This enables machining of a single part on all surfaces via a coordinated “hand-off” between spindles, or simultaneous machining of two different parts on one machine. In balanced cutting, two tools work together on the same feature utilizing the Y axis. Balanced cutting can include rough and finish turning; rough and finish milling; and opposed feature drilling, tapping or boring. When the part configuration permits, balanced machining can reduce cycle time.
The turning center features 5,000-rpm, 30-hp spindles as well as full C-axis CNC control for part positioning and contouring at a resolution of 0.0001 degree. It also carries upper and lower 12-station tool turrets for both fixed and rotating tools, and Y-axis machine travels for each turret enable off-centerline machining. The turning center can handle barstock ranging to 2.55" in diameter and can mill on both turrets with 7.5-hp spindles. Enhanced done-in-one processing enables complete, single-setup machining from slug material in the 8" chuck range.
