View MoreTungaloy’s TungModular grooving and parting tool system includes through-coolant channels and exchangeable modular blades that enable a range of tool combinations. Its secure insert clamping design and capability for high-pressure through-coolant promotes better insert life and effective chip control.
The modular tool system streamlines tool change-over inside the machine, reducing machine downtime and tool inventory costs compared to standard monoblock shank holders, according to the company.
An expansion to the system includes modular cutting heads with size C3 TunCap connections, Tungaloy’s polygon-shank coupling for accurate indexing and repeatability, and square shank holders with 90-degree blade orientation for grooving large components on vertical turning lathes. New modular blades have been added to the standard line to accommodate TunCut grooving inserts with 2- to 6-mm grooving widths in a variety of geometries and grades. Four-cornered TetraForce-Cut and TetraMini-Cut inserts have also been added. All additions are compatible with CHP, a high-pressure, through-coolant supply for chip control.
