View MoreIscar Metals, Inc. says its SwissCut tools are characterized by their ergonomic insert clamping and simple handling. The line is intended for use with CNC-controlled Swiss-type lathes as well as Swiss-type automatics.
The toolholder is designed to offer accurate indexing of the custom insert. The tangentially-clamped insert can be indexed without removing the toolholder from the machine turret. Clamping and releasing the insert can be accomplished from either side of the toolholder. According to the company, the bottom and rear prisms provide stability and precision when turning in alternating directions or where relatively high loads are applied.
The new holders are available in square shanks sizes of 0.375", 0.393", 0.472", 0.50" and 0.63". All inserts are available in the IC1008 grade with TiAlN and TiN PVD coated layers. The substrate is Iscar’s IC08 grade, a sub-micron grade that, according to the company, is characterized by its favorable notch wear and built-up edge resistance.
