Two new variations of Iscar’s Cut-Grip inserts feature flat-top rakes without chipbreakers for threading. Precision ground for a 60-degree (MT) thread profile, the inserts are designed for machining threads on short chipping materials such as brass and cast iron. The flat-top rake improves surface quality and lessens chatter, allowing higher cutting speeds and making the inserts an alternative to models with chipbreakers, the company says. The inserts can be installed in existing toolholders without modification.
