Tapping Arm Offers 360 Degrees of Movement
FlexArm has introduced the GH-60 hydraulic tapping arm, whose 480-V power source provides tapping capabilities ranging from ½" to 2", even in laser-cut holes.
FlexArm’s GH-60 hydraulic tapping arm has a 480-V power source provides tapping capabilities ranging from ½" to 2", even in laser-cut holes.
Designed to reach from 20" to 85", the arm operates at 55 or 275 rpm to deliver torque ranging to 811 foot-pounds. Full 360-degree movement enables operators to position taps accurately, according to the company. Five quick-change tap holders and semi-tap lubrication are included.
The optional digital depth control is said to help operators maintain consistency, simplifying quality control. An optional multi-position head enables the user to switch from vertical to horizontal tapping.
With faster setup times and reduced tap breakage, the GH-60 tapping arm is said to be an alternative to manual or CNC machine tapping for large-diameter or laser-cut holes with no reaming or preparation.
The company says the tapping arm enables shops to devote machining centers to milling, drilling and boring, rather than tapping.
