Soraluce Universal Machining Center Offers Customization Options

Select Machining Technologies has introduced the Soraluce TA-D 25, a six-axis, bed-type universal machining center. It boasts a 49" × 49", full-contouring, integrated B-axis rotary table that allows for a maximum part swing of 82" and maximum load capacity of 17,600 lbs. It offers 98" in the x-axis travel, 47" in the y-axis and 59" in the z-axis.

The TA-D 25’s table allows for high-precision, four-axis, simultaneous and continuous machining with continuous positioning of 0.001º and rotational accuracy of ± 2.5". The machine’s work area is completely enclosed, with roof guarding that integrates two front sliding doors and one at the back. The CNC control (Heidenhain ITNC 530 HSCI) is incorporated into a hanging, button-pad arm that can be positioned at front or rear.

The TA-D 25 features Accura heads technology, which the company says allows compensation of the head’s kinematic values in specific angular head positions. Accura heads ensure accuracy as the measurement cycle is carried out just before the milling operation.

The machine includes Soraluce’s DAS machine monitoring system, which responds to chatter by selecting the best technological alternative to eliminate vibrations. The system is designed to provide optimal stock removal capabilities, increasing productivity by up to 300%, according to the company. It’s also meant to improve surface finishing quality, extend tool life, and reduce wear on internal machine components.

Customization features include an optional universal stepless head with indexing increments of 0.001º in both the vertical and diagonal joints, allowing four plus two machining. The ISO 50 Big Plus spindle is capable of speeds up to 6,000 RPM and is driven by a 40-HP, direct drive spindle motor with a built-in cooling system.

Other optional features include vertical high-speed continuous positioning heads (torque motor, C-axis) that are designed to enable five-axis, continuous machining and universal, automatic indexing heads with electrospindle attachment. The latter feature is meant to enable four plus two axis continuous machining. The head can position the joints when the additional electro-spindle is spotted.
