CNC Software’s Mastercam X7 includes a new turn-mill function said to simplify machining on high-powered turning centers and full-function machining centers. Intelligent job setups keyed to specific machines are designed to streamline programming, and intelligent work plane selection enables simplified spindle and turret selection, and milling and lathe toolpath programming.
The software release integrates Renishaw’s Productivity+ for in-process gaging using a measuring probe on a machine tool. Probing determines fixture offsets, orientation and critical dimensions while eliminating the need for tool presetters and manual settings with dial indicators. Machine offsets can be automatically adjusted even during the machining process.
A Lathe Dynamic Rough tool path designed for hard materials cut with button inserts enables the tool path to cut gradually, remain engaged in the material and use more of the surface of the insert.
Additional features include a tool manager for creating and organizing tooling; improved backplot and verify utilities; dynamic and OptiRough tool paths; multi-threading support for most 2D high-speed tool paths; and oscillate motion for curve and swarf five-axis tool paths.
