Open House Showcases Technology Ahead of IMTS
Zoller’s open house in Ann Arbor, Michigan, provided attendees with a glimpse of the connectivity and efficiency the company’s products offer to users.
Zoller — a provider of “manufacturing efficiency solutions” including tooling and tool-management solutions — held an open house at its showroom in Ann Arbor, Michigan, June 12-13. The event showcased the company’s technology solutions and provided informative talks both from its own experts and from customers who have had success with its products. The open house enabled visitors to get close-up demonstrations of the company’s presetting, measuring, inspection, heat shrinking, automation and tool management solutions, with experts there to answer any questions.

Company president Alexander Zoller delivered a keynote speech focusing on the event’s theme: “Integrate. Success.” His speech provided an overview of the company and discussed the company’s numerous technologies, including automated tool presetters, smart tool cabinets and heat-shrink solutions.
Two Zoller customers followed up this presentation by providing their personal accounts of working with Zoller equipment. Daniel Skwierczynski, director of operations for ERA Industries, discussed his company’s experience working with Zoller technology, including tool presetters, tool management software and a scanning system. According to Skwierczynski, ERA benefited from the improved accountability that came with using a tool management system, as well as the reduction in setup time that came from using tool presetters.

ProCam Services owner Tom Bassett II expanded on the benefits of reducing setup time using tool presetters, According to Bassett, using Zoller tool presetters reduced setup time enough to pay off the machine in three months. “I always thought presetters were for production, not job shops,” Bassett said, but the math convinced him otherwise. The ability to preset tools while the CNC machine runs — even before considering the improvements in tool measuring accuracy — saved his business one hour per machinist per day, freeing up machine space to take more work.
The event provided a glimpse of what Zoller may have in store for IMTS, and Zoller hopes visitors walked away from the event with new ideas for their businesses. “Bringing people together at events like our open house sparks incredible synergy and brings into focus why Zoller is different,” said Rita Conroy-Martin, Zoller director of marketing and customer experience.
