Open Mind will present HyperMill 2016.2, which includes the Maxx Machining performance package, a set of high-performance toolpath techniques for roughing, drilling (pocket-opening) and finishing. These techniques are said to help reduce machining times and increase cutter life. The software’s high-performance roughing is based on Celeritive’s Volumill kernel with extensions allowing for 2D, 3D and five-axis roughing. Its drilling is a five-axis helical technique that uses standard end mills and effectively opens pockets with high chip evacuation. Finishing operations use conical barrel cutters to reduce cutting times on planar, ruled and other generalized surfaces.
