Vero’s Alphacam 2013 R2 software release introduces a simulation module with support for machine configuration components, milling and routing operations, three-axis machining, four- and five-axis positioning, and simultaneous nutated head/table combinations, as well as additional XY part rotation combinations. The release also features enhancements such as added handle-drilling functionality, support for nesting zones, performance improvements with large databases, and added or upgraded commands.

The “move faces” command moves pockets and bosses around the model, either from the original CAD datum position or relative to a user-defined position. Areas of features can be modified, and individual faces can be moved with translation and rotation in X, Y or Z. The “3D mirror” command copies entities while retaining the originals, which can later be edited without affecting the copies. The “analyze profile” command identifies gaps or overlaps in profiles to be extruded or swept. The dialog also has been enhanced to improve feedback and make it easier to identify issues, the company says.

The Alphacam Add-Ins 1.0 type library API expansion provides additional support and flexibility for special projects or applications such as AutoQueries, Auto Styles, raster to vector, reports and split nest, among others. A new NC output manager add-in enables output via single or multiple preset configurations, and the BTL translator add-in contains layout output configurations as well as support for birdsmouth, ridge or valley cuts, lap joints, and free contour processes.
