TDM Systems offers “Cost-per-Part” software as part of its tool data management and crib management software. This new feature uses tool consumption data to calculate tool costs per workpiece for virtually any production order. Tool prices, user fees and factors of use are stored in the main database for every tool component. Calculation is based on booking records from the tool crib, where all incoming or outgoing tools are tracked in a comprehensive list for the time period in consideration.
The calculation takes into account the production number, the time period, the hours of machine use and all tools already allocated in TDM to the production machine. Material consumption (indexable inserts) is also included.
The company says the software is suited for companies with smaller production numbers such as those in the tool and die industry, where parts are often complex in design, require many production steps with different tools and remain in the machine longer.
