Available from Weldon Solutions, the Solaris is a CNC cylindrical grinder that can handle parts as heavy as 1,000 lbs. It has a 16" swing capacity with 60" between centers, and an optional swing capacity of 24" is also available. According to the company, the grinder is useful for diesel cam shafts, drive shafts, plungers, pins and planetary shafts.
With a compound X- and Z-axis slide design, the grinder has a small footprint. It can be furnished with an optional subspindle that can automatically present a 12" diameter grinding wheel. The company says this allows sequential OD grinding operations to be performed in one setup. Users also can opt for a programmable C axis for non-round grinding applications.
Other features include a GE Fanuc 18iTB control with a color LCD, a cross-roller linear way system, shear-damper base construction and steel telescoping way covers. The grinder is also equipped with a hydraulic tailstock and an automatic lubrication system. It has a 20" × 4" wheel-guard capacity.
