Self-Adjusting Bar Puller Enables Automation

Accudyne’s EZ-Puller bar puller is self-adjusting to enable automatic operation of CNC turning centers. The bar puller uses polyurethane springs that provide force to pivoting arms, which then apply force to circular grippers. According to the company, the grippers rotate only under extreme load and feature a serration geometry for minimum stock penetration. To set the tool for gripping and pulling barstock, it moves in the Z axis until the grippers are at least 0.180" past the end of the stock. Then, the tool moves in the X axis until the grippers are on centerline with the material and initiates a standard pull cycle.
The bar puller can accommodate round stock sizes ranging from 0.125" to 1.625", hexagonal stock ranging from 0.125" to 1.375", and square stock ranging from 0.125" to 1.000". Bar sizes can be changed in the machine without manually adjusting the bar puller.
