Advanced manufacturing technology from Soraluce, Geminis, Ibarmia, Momentum, Famar and Fausto Marinello are being showcased in Select Manufacturing Technologies’ booth. Each machine on display can be configurable to meet the specific needs of manufacturers working with large, complex components. Additionally, Famar and Fausto Marinello (of Famar Group) are highlighting automated multitasking machining systems engineered for high-volume, precision applications.
Highlighted machines include:
- Soraluce SAD40 – a fixed-table, traveling column multitasking machine, featuring 157″ × 47″ × 59″ (XYZ) travels, a built-in 1-meter rotary table and a stepless universal spindle head. As part of Soraluce’s performance line, the SAD40 features an inline spindle which can deliver 43 hp and 450 ft-lbs of torque for efficient metal removal. The SAD40 is demonstrating Soraluce patented chatter-eliminating technologies, DAS+ (Dynamic Active Stabilizer) and DWS (Dynamic Workpiece Stabilizer), as well as adaptive control, with live cutting on two workpieces.
- Geminis GT5i – a heavy duty flatbed lathe featuring a six-meter (236″) long bed, 55.1″ swing over the guideways, 236.22″ distance between centers with the capacity to hold workpieces up to 17,600 lbs between centers. The GT5i, which is the smallest in the GTi range, can be configured with a range of multitasking accessories for performing turning, milling, boring and grinding operations on large cylindrical parts.
- Ibarmia THC12 – a five-axis universal multitasking machining center with twin 39.37″ diameter pallets is showcasing its ability to machine large diameter and prismatic parts with an aerospace engine housing setup inside the work area, while a spindle head casting (for an Ibarmia Z-Series) is setup in the loading station. The THC12 can swing up to 49.21” for turning operations and offers 47.24" × 51.18" × 39.37” (XYZ) travels. The company says its 112-hp, 12,000-rpm main spindle, delivering 147 ft-lbs of torque, can optimize metal removal performance.
- Momentum MVL-15iM SR – a heavy duty vertical turning lathe, with full-wrap column construction, is premiering a custom Super Ram, which can enhance flexibility when it comes to tooling. The large capacity VTL offers 62.99" of swing, cross rail travel of -32.28" to 39.37" and a load capacity of up to 17,637 lbs.
- Famar Tandem 260 – a twin (inverted) spindle multitasking turning center designed for high-volume production, with 15.75" max swing diameter, 9.84" max turning diameter, 9.45" max turning length and twin 41.6-hp spindles. Automation is built in with an integrated pallet conveyor and twin inverted spindles to load and unload parts. The Tandem is engineered for integration into full production cells.
- Fausto Marinello FM23 – a twin-spindle five-axis HMC featuring 13" × 19.7" × 15.75" (XYZ) travels, full fourth and fifth axis, twin 65.7-hp spindles and a compact footprint for high-volume production of complex parts.
