The MLX series of permanent magnets from WEN Technology features a lever-actuated safety latch that is designed to be operated with one hand. A two-pole design with prismatic contact surfaces and rare earth magnets are incorporated, qualities that are said to provide good holding power, even when dealing with rough surfaces.
Four models are available—MLX-250, 500, 1000 and 2000—with flat-stock holding capacities of 550 lbs, 1,100 lbs, 2,200 lbs and 4,400 lbs respectively. Holding capacities (in corresponding order) for round stock are 220 lbs, 550 lbs, 1,100 lbs and 2,200 lbs.
According to the company, the magnets can be maintained relatively easily, as the pole contact feet can be reground. The rare earth Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets promote long magnet life under normal working conditions.
