Rocklin Manufacturing Micro Welder Enables In-House Workpiece Repair
IMTS 2024: Portable industrial electronic solutions provider Rocklin Manufacturing emphasizes the cost-effectiveness of its MoldMender Micro Welder for workpiece repair.
Rocklin Manufacturing is exhibiting the MoldMender Micro Welder, a technology that delivers simple and cost-effective mold repair in-house through a low-heat, non-arcing welding process. Instead of sending molds out for repair, scrapping them prematurely or pursuing other high-cost repair methods, the portable MoldMender solves scratches, imperfections, pin holes, parting lines flashing and other imperfections.
Repairs are accomplished by producing interlinking spot welds to bond the repair material to the workpiece. A simple process of rolling the electrode while triggering a footswitch permanently bonds the repair material, resulting in a consistent weld with minimal heat. The low heat eliminates shrink lines, distortion or splatter on adjacent areas, which can occur with other welding processes.
The matching ribbon, wire, paste or powder repair material produces a fully hardened weld ready for finishing. Since the amount and location of the repair material can be precisely controlled by machine setting, the slight finishing that is required can easily be performed with any standard finishing method.
There is no need for gas or a welding helmet, and the portable unit can be carried directly to the press for immediate repairs.
