Originally developed for the aerospace and electronics markets, the Dominator from Jones & Shipman Inc. is used by medical device manufacturers to produce components including catheters, canulli, bone saws, needle-less syringes, optical scalpels, single-use surgical scissors and instruments and endoscopic tools.
Featuring the company’s Windows-based software suite, the grinder enables users to produce two-, three- or multi-facet cutting edges. Two fixtures retain removable cassettes, which can accommodate needles with diameters ranging from 0.01" to 0.18" (31 to 7 gauge) and lengths from 1" to 16". In addition, each fixture can hold and grind virtually any programmed size of needle.
