Romer, a Hexagon Metrology company, offers the portable Infinite 5012, a 4' (1.2-m) addition to its measuring arm line. With all the performance and flexibility of its larger siblings, the measuring arm is suited for small jobs where its light weight and small footprint are required. Possible applications include benchtop measuring, desktop engineering and CAD-compare or quick dimensional checks inside a machine tool.
Featuring WiFi connectivity and on-board battery power, the arm is said to deliver true “go anywhere” portability without cables. Instead of a counterbalance that the larger-sized models use, the arm features an integrated tungsten counterweight, which is said to deliver light-touch ergonomics and fluid motion. Automatic probe detection allows quick probe changes without re-calibration.
