Portable CMM Series Provides Accurate Scanning, Touch Measurement
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence expands its Romer Absolute Arm portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) product line with the addition of the 77 series.
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence expands its Romer Absolute Arm portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) product line with the addition of the 77 series. The series is designed to provide absolute accuracy for high-end 3D measurement applications in such industries as aerospace, defense and medical. According to the company, this series is 20 percent more accurate in scanning and 15 percent more accurate in touch-probe measurement than the 75 series.
The measuring arm is available in five sizes in measuring volumes ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 m. The 3000 N magnetic base offers mounting options for a variety of applications and part sizes.
The Absolute Arm PCMM can be switched on and used immediately without warmup or referencing, the company says. Probe changes can also be made without recalibration to maximize flexibility on the job. Acoustic and haptic operator feedback ease usage in harsh shopfloor environments.
Like the 73 and 75 series of Romer Absolute Arms, 77-series arms are compatible with all Hexagon laser scanners, including the RS3 integrated scanner and the HP-L-20.8 and HP-L-8.9 external units. All arms are available in six- and seven-axis configurations. The six-axis models are said to be ideal for touch-probe measurement, while the seven-axis design is well-suited for high-speed laser scanning.
