View MoreSchunk’s PGN-Plus-P gripper features enlarged supporting dimensions between the six load-bearing shoulders of the multi-tooth guidance, allowing higher moment capacity, in turn accommodating longer fingers and greater loads. Continuous lubrication pockets in the guidance provide permanent lubrication. For short strokes in particular, the principle of minimum-quantity lubrication ensures quick and even distribution of the lubricant, making the gripper nearly maintenance-free and extending its service life, Schunk says.
The gripper has an enlarged drive piston area which increases grip force so that higher workpiece weights can be handled. In addition to the larger piston, the wedge drive mechanism has been redesigned for lower friction and greater surface area, transmitting more energy to the jaws and creating even more grip force than previous generations of the system.
On request, the module is available with spring safety, mechanical gripping force maintenance and compensation units for compensating angular misalignment. The gripper is also available in dust-proof and special high-precision versions. PGN-Plus-P users can choose from a selection of add-ons including sensors, toolchangers, finger blanks and dust protection.
According to Schunk, the PGN-Plus-P is effective in areas with high temperatures, contamination and aggressive media. The product is available in sizes ranging from 50 to 125.Related Content
