View MoreOkamoto presents the ACC-SA1 MDI controlled Saddle Type surface grinders, available in capacities from 8″ × 20″ to 20″ × 40″. All feature heavy ribbed Meehanite cast iron construction, robust column assemblies and premium grade components throughout, intended for rigidity, high-precision grinding and long-term reliability and machine life.
The table is said to support the entire grinding stroke with no overhang or deflection for optimum accuracy. Double V-ways on the longitudinal and crossfeed axes can enable smooth table tracking. The rigid wheelhead assembly, with Okamoto's time-tested sealed maintenance, can free spindle stands up to heavy grinding loads and deliver fine finishes. The standard spindle inverter can provide variable wheel speed for enhanced
grinding flexibility when grinding varied materials. The ACC-SA1 Series features standard programmable dress, with dress compensation that is said to free operators from time-consuming manual wheel dressing. Work datum is standard, with chuck datum available as optional. AC servo driven vertical feed can provide a 0.00001″ minimum downfeed increment. Servo driven crossfeed position is said to be simply set through the “teach” function. Minimum increment is 0.0001". Standard auto wheelhead retract can eliminate the need to establish start position when grinding like parts.
The ACC-SA1 control delivers the reliability of electronic control while still providing hands-on operation, according to the company. It incorporates a 10" color touchscreen panel. The main set-up screen is used to set crossfeed, grinding wheel rpms, total stock removal and more. A dress set-up screen is used to input dressing parameters. The grinding monitor page displays the cycle in progress.
The ACC-SA1 Series provides three versatile grinding cycles. A Shift-Plunge Cycle can be used for fast stock removal and fine finish in one cycle. The Plunge Cycle can provide fast stock removal on parts equal to or narrower than the grinding wheel. The Traverse Cycle is said to provide fine finishes. Hydraulic, lubrication and electrical components are also accessible for simplified maintenance and service.
