National Surface Finishing Day
Each year Products Finishing partners with thousands of finishing operations in the U.S. to celebrate National Surface Finishing Day (NSFD) on the first Wednesday in March. NSFD is designed to celebrate and showcase the industry to trade schools, businesses, officials and media, as well as to celebrate employees and staff. The overarching goal of NSFD is to bring further awareness to the important roles plating and coating facilities play in their communities. The company offers an array of clamps, fixturing accessories and machine tool components suited for OEM, machine, forming and fabricating shops. One product, Sof-Top urethane grippers from Fairlane Products, features a bubbled urethane surface for non-slip grip. The bubbled texture firmly holds while allowing air to escape, so no suction is created between the contact surface and the top of the rest pad as it is compressed. The urethane surface is available in three durometers (strength ratings).

The grippers are available in several sizes and mounting configurations: fixed gripper, replaceable swivel ball and thrust screw assembly. With the fixed gripper configuration, the urethane surface is permanently bonded to a 300 series stainless steel pad. They are blind-hole tapped for backside mounting and are available in sizes ranging from ⁵/₁₆" to 1" (8 to 25 mm). The replaceable swivel ball configuration, available in sizes ranging from ³/₈" to ⁵/₁₆" (10 to 24 mm), features a cylindrical body that allows for installation in tight areas. The thrust screw assembly configuration, available in sizes ranging from ³/₈" to ⁵/₁₆", allows straight-line static load thrust without transmitting torsional or radial force to the contact area.
