Handte’s EM Profi emulsion mist collectors, available from Camfil APC, delivers high collection efficiencies as well as continuous operation capability for reduced maintenance, easier servicing and lower operating costs. The units can handle heavy loads to clean up contaminants generated during milling, drilling, tapping, turning, grinding and other machining processes that utilize emulsion mist coolants.
The collector uses long-life coarse and fine filter demisters followed by a final-stage HEPA filter with combined efficiencies of 99.9 percent on particles as small as 0.3 micron, the company says. An automatic sprayer counteracts emulsion clumping, enabling the separators to operate 24/7 almost maintenance-free.
The unit is designed for easy service from the ground by a single technician. Service life between change-outs ranges to 6 years for demister filters and 2 years for HEPA filters. Large maintenance doors and quick-clamping elements ease filter replacement. The company says that these features provide savings through reduced downtime, longer change-out cycles, and increased productivity and reliability.
The mist collector uses a modular construction. Basic modules can handle air volumes from 1,700 to 8,000 cfm, with a range of accessories and configurations available for added flexibility. Modules can be combined to accommodate larger airflow requirements. Small, space-saving models are also available for low-airflow applications of 500 to 1,400 cfm.
